A short intellectual biography Giorgio Colli(Torino,16 January 1917-San Domenico di Fiesole,6 January,1979) graduated in Law in 1939 and earned a position at University of Pisa (that never gave him a "cathedra",he was "libero docente"),where he taught History of ancient philosophy until his sudden death,in 1979. He was translator and commentator of 'Organon' ( Aristotle) and of 'Kritik der Reinen Vernunft' ( Kant);editor ,with Mazzino Montinari,of Nietzsche's Works(international edition);author of a fundamental essay on Parmenides of Plato;translator and ingenious interpreter of Presocratics' philosophy. His major philosophical works are 'Filosofia dell'Espressione'(1969) and 'La Ragione errabonda'(posthumous notebooks).He wrote also 'ΦΥΣΙΣ ΚΡΥΠΤΕΣΘΑΙ ΦΙΛΕI'(1948),where he criticizes Aristotle's interpretation of Presocratics ,from a philological and philosphical point of view, to demonstrate the metaphysical structure of their (philo)sophy.He also wrote ' Dopo Nietzsche'(1974) and 'La nascita della filosofia' (1975).But his major work on greek philosphy is 'La sapienza greca'(three volumes,19777-80):this work should have been from Dioniso and Apollo to Crizia(11 volumes );but as Colli died ,suddenly,on 6 January 1979,we have only three volumes. After his death,Adelphi published his lectures(at Pisa University) on' Zeno'(1964-65) , on' Gorgia e Parmenide'(1965-67) and two parts of his dissertation of 1939, 'Platone politico'(2007) and Filosofi sovrumani (2009).It should publish other his lectures.
